There have been plenty of firsts since retiring at the end of April.

I took my first summer holiday since the age of 17, replacing throwdowns at the Kia Oval and drag downs at LSE with a week in Granada, staring at the Alhambra and doing my best not to check the ‘scores around the grounds’.

And I made my first appearance on the Surrey live stream as a commentator, though I suspect it will be a while before I offer my first truly critical appraisal of the lads.

I was also lucky enough to call my first international women’s games and complete my first pitch report for the ICC in Derby and Loughborough. (Only to be told by one of my friends that I will need a chest and arms like Alec Stewart if I’m going to be on TV.)
