Surrey have an opportunity of reaching the knockout stages for the first time in five years as they head into the closing week of the Metro Bank One Day Cup group matches.
Three wins out of five so far, the latest a tense victory by 19 runs at Bristol on Friday, left them in fourth position in Group A, Lancashire then slipping below them on Sunday when their net run rate took a beating in a 67-run reverse against Northamptonshire.
So it is with an air of genuine optimism that Rory Burns can lead his side out at the Kia Oval on Wednesday (August 5) when they face Kent, followed by a day-night trip to Taunton to play Somerset two days later before a final home date against Nottinghamshire on August 11.
