Surrey have now drawn their first three Rothesay County Championship matches of the season, following the stalemate against Essex at the Kia Oval.

Both Tom Westley and Dean Elgar made centuries for Essex on the final day as they batted out time in their second innings to finish on 302 for two (declared) when hands were shaken.

Essex had made 409 in their first innings and Surrey replied with 472 to earn themselves a useful lead.
