Will Jacks has enjoyed the most momentous three months of his life to emerge as one of the heroes of England’s surge into the ICC T20 World Cup’s last four.
England qualified for the semi-final stage by beating Sri Lanka and Pakistan in the first two games of the Super Eights. They then also won their third Super Eight fixture, beating New Zealand by four wickets, and once again it was Jacks who was central to England's continued success.
Surrey all-rounder Jacks had already taken two for 23 from his four overs in New Zealand's 20-over total of 159 for seven, but it was with the bat that he was even more impressive as he helped to resuscitate a stuttering England reply.
With England's chase beginning to lose momentum, Jacks emerged at No 7 to hit the accelerator in superb fashion, With Leicestershire's Rehan Ahmed playing brilliantly too at the death, Jacks smashed 32 not out from 18 balls as the seventh wicket pair steered England home with three balls to spare.
