One of the most encouraging sights for Surrey supporters during the current Rothesay County Championship fixture against Essex came during the lunch interval on day one, and then again an hour or so before play on the final day.
On day one, and as hundreds of supporters strolled around the Kia Oval outfield, as is so wonderfully traditional now during matchday intervals, Dan Worrall was pounding in on one of the practice pitches on the Harleyford Road side of the ground.
The paceman also put in a bowling session on the practice strips on Monday morning and despite their five-pronged seam attack's efforts on the pitch during the match, which included a determined fightback with the ball after Essex openers Paul Walter and Dean Elgar had put on 183 on the first day, it has been very clear so far in the season’s early weeks just how much Surrey are missing Worrall.
