Surrey wait on England Test plans ahead of Notts clash

A large obstacle has impeded Surrey’s progress over the past year. It’s called Nottinghamshire.
The men from Trent Bridge came to the Kia Oval last September in the penultimate round of the Rothesay County Championship, their 20-run victory on a thrilling final day effectively ensuring they would win the title and thus preventing Rory Burns’s team making it four in a row.
And when the sides met in the Vitality Blast quarter-final at Trent Bridge last month Notts were again the winners, this time by seven runs.
Back at the Kia Oval again last week they fought for the right to reach the knockout stages of the Metro Bank One Day Cup and once more it was Nottinghamshire who prevailed, George Munsey’s 138 trumping a century earlier from Ryan Patel to ensure the visitors won by six wickets.
