Surrey keen to break Guildford drought on return to Woodbridge Road

Droughts are proving popular this summer – but there is one which Surrey are very keen to break as they head to Guildford.
Two Metro Bank One Day Cup matches in three days at Woodbridge Road, playing Leicestershire on Friday and Northamptonshire on Sunday, give Rory Burns’s men the opportunity to build on the seven-wicket defeat of Lancashire at Sedburgh School.
The victory in Cumbria was a highly-promising start to their 50-over campaign but Surrey have not won at Guildford, where they have been playing on and off since 1938, for five years now.
That was a remarkable match against Nottinghamshire in late July 2021, interrupted by torrential rain in the early stages which reduced it from 50 overs per side to 30.
