Surrey head coach Gareth Batty believes that Sean Abbott’s much-anticipated return to the Kia Oval will have a significant impact on and off the field.

The 34-year-old Australian all-rounder is available for the start of Surrey’s Rothesay County Championship campaign, the away fixture against Warwickshire at Edgbaston on April 3-6.

And Abbott’s fourth spell at the club will incorporate Surrey’s first eight Championship games and the entirety of the Vitality Blast.

Batty said: “Sean is part of the scenery here now but we are signing the man as much as his great cricketing ability as an all-rounder in both red and white-ball cricket.
