Champions in the world’s inaugural T20 tournament in 2003, Surrey have been back to Finals Day eight times since – and still not won it again.
But they set out once more in the reshaped competition on Friday evening, hosting Lancashire at the Kia Oval as part of a 'double header' also featuring Surrey Women against Lancashire Thunder (2.15pm start).
It will be only the fourth time that Surrey and Lancashire have met in this format, all the previous encounters coming at the knockout stage with Surrey 2-1 ahead following a 13-run triumph in the quarter-final at Old Trafford three years ago.
