One Day Cup fate in the balance as Surrey await results elsewhere

Rory Burns' team are not playing, of course. They are licking their wounds after a chastening 188-run defeat against Somerset at Taunton.

Their last Group A match, against Notts Outlaws at the Kia Oval on Tuesday (August 11) and likely to attract another bumper crowd, could still give Surrey a chance of squeezing into the knockout stage.

But it is the results of Sunday's games that may well decide Surrey's fate after a 50-over campaign that has been hugely to the credit of a side given little chance of success in the competition. Conceivably, looking at the fixtures to come, all the present top six teams could finish on 20 points - though that, of course, is highly unlikely.
