On a sweltering Friday, at the end of the hottest June on record in the UK, there was disappointment for Surrey's women but T20 joy for the men as Will Jacks and new overseas player signing Josh Philippe starred at Hove.

The failure of any of the Surrey Women's top four to get a big score resulted in a slide to 130 all out at Edgbaston in reply to Warwickshire's 20-over score of 172 for five.

Skipper Bryony Smith scored 30 in an opening partnership of 53 in 6.3 overs with Alice Davidson-Richards (39) but after they both fell the next highest score was Phoebe Franklin's 17.
