Both Surrey's men's and women's teams got their respective Vitality Blast campaigns off to flying starts in temperatures more like July than May and in front of a big Kia Oval crowd.
Bryony Smith, with 71 off only 35 balls, was the star of the show in the first match of a double-header that saw her Surrey Women side - defending their 2025 Blast title - see off Lancashire Thunder by six wickets.
And then it was the turn of Sam Curran's Surrey men to overwhelm their Lancastrian opponents, thrashing the Lightning by 59 runs with Tom Curran and Reece Topley the stand-outs in a superb team performance.
