It’s 13 years since Sussex visited the Kia Oval in the Rothesay County Championship, an eternity for such near neighbours.
And Surrey have been forced into a late change for this Bank Holiday weekend clash, with Ben Foakes - bizarrely - reporting an injury after he took off his wicketkeeping pads to bowl two overs with the second new ball in the dying moments of the high-scoring draw against Essex earlier this week.
Jamie Smith will take over the gloves, and Ryan Patel is on standby to come into the side as Foakes's effective batting replacement.
