Surrey's failure to finish off Glamorgan's first innings with the second new ball early on day two at Cardiff prolongs a worrying trend this season.
And then a headlong collapse to 105 all out in reply to Glamorgan's eventual 358, in which Mason Crane scored a maiden first-class hundred from No 9, left Rory Burns' team with a mountain to climb if they are to escape with a draw.
At stumps on day two Surrey were 82 for two in their second innings - still 171 runs behind - although Burns himself was remaining defiant on 43 not out.
