Just when it was going so well. Surrey’s excellent start to this year’s Vitality Blast – wins over Lancashire and Middlesex – was followed by double defeat last weekend, Hampshire and then Kent getting the better of them.
All of which makes two matches in three days at the Kia Oval, the second half of the London Derby on Wednesday and then the return with Hampshire on Friday, all the more important before attention returns to the brief summer reappearance of the Rothesay County Championship from Sunday.
