May has been a good, solid month for the team as we moved into the Vitality Blast season.

We have been playing some excellent cricket and we are currently in a good place, sitting top of the Blast table and in third place in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

April ended with a rocky run of form and we entered May with a third consecutive defeat in the One Day Cup, and if we’re being honest with ourselves we had not been good enough across our three core skills.

As a squad we took time to reflect on our performances and we came back with wins against Essex and Lancashire to finish the first block of ODC games. I was pleased with the way we responded and for me what stood out was different players putting their hands up when it mattered, which was something that had not been happening as much as we wanted it to.
