Three wins and three losses means we are still a little way off where we want to be in the Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign.
There have been some outstanding individual performances but the consistency that we expect of ourselves has not been there. We are working hard to put that right, starting at the Kia Oval next Tuesday against Essex.
I am delighted to be writing a monthly column for The Rey, and I am impressed how quickly the site has established itself since its February launch. It is great to see so much coverage of our matches, and it is important to see the women’s game being covered in this way across the CounterPress platform. I am determined we will do everything we can to support the venture.
Writing this column gives me the opportunity to speak directly to Surrey supporters and members and I want to start by saying how happy I was with the way we started the season. At Edgbaston in our opening game, we scored the highest total since the start of the Tier One era in the Metro Bank One Day Cup (389 for 9), and it showed what we are capable of with the bat.
