On Wednesday morning, before Jason Roy’s fireworks took the headlines at the Kia Oval, there was sadder news for those of a Brown Hatted persuasion.

James Taylor, the seamer known to most around the club simply as JT, will leave Surrey at the end of the season to join Yorkshire for the start of 2027.

He will remain with Surrey for the rest of this year and, if opportunities arise, will no doubt continue to contribute to the Three Feathers. After joining from Derbyshire in 2020, he now voyages north again in search of richer prospects.
