Surrey's last day, and last match, of the 2026 season summed up a forgettable campaign littered with regular disruptions.

It was two final day rain interruptions at Taunton that, in the end, helped Rory Burns' team to walk away with a draw and a seventh place finish in the County Championship's Division One table.

But, after ending up on 127 for five in their second innings, after Somerset had posted a mammoth 731 and a first innings lead of 309, there was little for Surrey to take from the final game bar Lawrence's brilliant hundred on day one and excellent knocks too then from Dom Sibley and Ben Foakes.
